Biography
Working across disciplines
Currently an ESRC-funded PhD Candidate in Politics at Queen's University Belfast I work across a range of disciplines and until recently refused to settle on my natural home, rural geography. Working at first in political science and political theory through my exploration of Political Discourse Theory I have been naturally drawn to all things rural, in particular the rural environment.

My thesis "Fields of Possibility: Northern Ireland's Rural Environment after Brexit" uses Political Discourse Theory to develop a framework for rural environmental governance through which I characterise and critique the hegemonic discourse of governance in Northern Ireland, Sustainable Productivism.

While my contributions to Political Discourse Theory and understandings of how the rural environment is governed is the core of my work I have ventured beyond that. Brexit, in particular, has been a central concept in my research and I hope to contribute to our understands of it in the future. Additionally, my work touches upon Climate Change, food policy, and energy policy, in which I have professional experiences.
